Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

Summit AI Notes is available in two ways, and what we receive depends on which one you use.

Mac App Store version

We do not collect any personal information. Apple handles all purchase transactions and does not share your personal information, email address, or payment details with us.

Direct download version

If you download Summit from our website and buy a license from us, we receive the minimum needed to sell and check that license:

• Email address — used as your login to the license server and to send you your license and account messages
• License details — your license key, plan, and license status
• Device activation data — a device identifier and label for each Mac you activate, the IP address it activated from, and when the license was last checked
• Update checks — the app asks our server for new versions; like any web request, this reveals your IP address

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe, not to us; we receive the purchase record and the email address you used.

Information We DO NOT Collect (either version)

• Card numbers or other payment credentials
• Meeting audio recordings
• Meeting transcriptions
• Meeting summaries or notes
• Document content
• Usage analytics (optional telemetry can be enabled)

2. How We Use Your Information

Mac App Store version: we do not collect personal information, so there is no user data for us to use. License validation is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store.

Direct download version: we use your email, license, and activation data only to sell you a license, let you sign in to manage it, check that it is valid on your devices, deliver updates, and prevent license abuse. We do not use it for advertising or share it for marketing.

If you contact us for support, we will only use your information to respond to your inquiry.

3. Data Storage and Security

Local Storage: All meeting recordings, transcriptions, and documents are stored locally on your Mac in SQLite database.

Cloud Storage (Optional): If you choose to use cloud LLM providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google), only the transcription text is sent to those providers for summarization. Audio recordings never leave your device.

4. Third-Party Services

Summit AI Notes may integrate with the following third-party services at your discretion:

• LM Studio: Optional — connect models you already run in LM Studio instead of Summit's built-in local models (runs entirely on your device)
• OpenAI: Optional cloud LLM for summarization (only if you configure API keys)
• Anthropic Claude: Optional cloud LLM for summarization
• Google Gemini: Optional cloud LLM for summarization

When using cloud LLM providers, only transcription text is sent - never audio recordings. Each provider has their own privacy policy.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Export your locally stored data at any time
• Delete all local data by removing the application
• Request a copy of the license and account data we hold about you (direct download version only — for the App Store version we hold none)
• Ask us to correct or delete that data. Deleting it ends the license it belongs to.

6. Children's Privacy

Summit AI Notes is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
